"Be Still, My Soul"

 "Be Still, My Soul"
 Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side.
 Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
 leave to your God to order and provide;
 in every change God faithful will remain.
 Be still, my soul: your best, your heavenly friend
 through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

 Be still, my soul: your God will undertake
 to guide the future, as in ages past.
 Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake;
 all now mysterious shall be bright at last.
 Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
 the Christ who ruled them while he dwelt below.

 Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
 when we shall be forever with the Lord,
 when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
 sorrow for forgot, love's purest joys restored.
 Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past,
 all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
-Katharina A. von Schlegel

Over the years "Be Still, My Soul" has become my favorite hymns.
The comforting words and beautiful music are such an inspiration!
May you have a blessed day!
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

  1. Sarah,
    Thank you for this today.
    I read it. Then I read it agin.
    It touched my soul today, as I am grieving the loss of my dear father just two weeks ago...

  2. So peaceful and calming is this beautiful hymn. I can see why it is one of your favorites. And what a beautiful photo and video!

    Such a blessing to read this today! I have missed your posts so much and was so glad to see this ♥

    Blessings and hugs,

  3. Dear Sarah ... so heartwarming ... peaceful ... quiet! Such a sweet and lovely way to begin my day! Thank You! Hugs ♥ Teri

  4. I needed to read this today -- Thank you for sharing it, Sarah! "Your God will undertake to guide the future, as in ages past." That's something I need to remember... I often find that I "miss" some of the words when I'm singing a hymn, so it's good to slow down and actually ponder each verse.

  5. It is a beautiful hymn. To be still takes effort. Complete surrender and a great deal of love for the One that knows could calm us. m.

  6. Thank you all for your comments! This hymn has been a comfort to me over the past month.

  7. I love this hymn - the words are so beautiful:))) and what a comfort this line is " Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever with the Lord".

  8. This is so beautiful! I love it! Have you ever heard Kari Jobe's version of "Be Still My Sould" mixed in with "In You I Rest"? It is so beautiful! <3
