Buttons and patches and the cold wind blowing,
The days pass quickly when I am sewing.

"It rains- what lady loves a rainy day?
She loves a rainy day who sweeps the hearth,
And threads the busy needle, or applies
The scissors to the torn or threadbare sleeve;
And blesses God that she has friends and home."

Hope you are all enjoying a peaceful and cozy Thursday. Today has been rainy and rather chilly, but I am grateful for a warm fire and a hot cup of tea to enjoy while I sew. I must agree, the day does fly while sewing and cleaning! : )
Sounds like such a lovely day where you are!! Sewing when it is cold and rainy out is so fun... it has a feeling so cozy and different from any other time of year. Just sitting at your sewing machine with a cup of something wonderful, feeling warm and content. You are so inspiring in reminding me of the beauty of working with our hands- such a blessing from the Lord!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of the sweet words and artwork. I hope you have a wonderful time sewing and in the rest of your day, Sarah :)
Blessings and hugs,
Jazzmin
I enjoyed the poetry and artwork ~ thank you! I like sitting in front of the fire stitching away, snuggled under the quilt I'm working on. :-) Rainy days are good.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your day!
Blessings,
Anne♥
I so agree with you! Love your pictures and poems.
ReplyDeleteYour day sounded perfect :) The poems and quotes were a delight read and it's always a pleasure to sew or read on a cold, rainy (or snowy) day - a simple pleasure in life.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, sweet friend! Hugs!
Sarah...a Saturday sewing sounds just delightful :-) Here in the mountains, the rain has yet to visit...but I am sure it is coming.
ReplyDeleteHello, I have always enjoyed the cooler weather for these very reasons! A cup of hot tea, a cozy book to read! I do love to sew and I have even started crocheting again. And I spent today cleaning closets. I have a sweet picture of you being cozy and doing what God has given us to do! Being a keeper of our homes! Blessings, Roxy
ReplyDeleteI just love stormy days when I can spend an afternoon sewing, Sarah! This is such a sweet post...I so enjoyed all the "long ago" pictures...thank you for sharing such a sweet post!
ReplyDeleteSweet blessings,
Laura
Isn't it warm and cozy by the fire with a cup of tea? I wish I had a fireplace in my bedroom for just that reason. It has been snowy and blustery here. Hope you are having a lovely day, Sarah! <3
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more! Before I was married I always sewed in my bedroom at home, and I would say that I wanted a little stove for my room. One year for Christmas my dad surprised my with a little electric stove, that looked like a real stove. I was thrilled!
