Rose of Sharon

For years now I have admired the beautiful Rose of Sharon bushes I would see this time of year. It seems that many people in our area plant several Rose of Sharon bushes in a row in their front yards. Sometimes in varying shades of pink, white and lavender.
Recently while visiting a farmers' market I found an absolutely lovely Rose of Sharon. I was thrilled! The color is so delicate and pretty. Plus the bush looked fairly well established, so I am hoping it will thrive, and over the years perhaps we can plant more.
It is such a pleasure to enjoy the LORD's beautiful creation, especially this time of year. It is bittersweet to see all of the gardens flourishing at the end of August, knowing that soon autumn will be here. We have had one gorgeous day after another, and I am enjoying each moment; savoring the beauty of summer while it is still here.

Earlier this summer my sister found this wee frog while we were visiting my mom. Isn't it adorable?! I have always liked tree frogs. : )

"The earth is the Lords, and the fulnesse thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."

  1. Good morning, Sarah! You have been in my thoughts so I was thrilled to see a lovely post from you :) The Rose of Sharon truly is beautiful! It reminds me of a Hibiscus flower. And the tree frog is adorable! I am not a frog girl, but this little one really is cute.

Enjoy your weekend, my friend. Hugs!

  2. Hi Sarah! What a beautiful shade of pink! Rose of Sharon is one of my favorite flowers, and I like that they don't require a lot of care. We have one that we dug up just before Goodman's old home place was sold, twenty-two years ao. It's a rosy purple. And I was recently at a moving sale, and saw that there was a gorgeous double purple/pink one in the front yard. I bought a pair of pruners at the sale then asked if I could take a couple of cuttings from the Rose of Sharon. (It needed it!) The owner didn't mind a bit so now I have four little ones that I will keep in pots for a year or so until they can be set out. I love free plants. ;)
    Have a great weekend!

  4. Dearest Sarah...oh, how happy I am for you that you finally spotted your perfect Rose of Sharon bush! Sigh...roses are simply gorgeous and such elegant flowers, and oh! How pretty the colour of yours is...very dainty! I hope it will bring you plenty of pleasure as it blooms year after year in your lovely garden...
And how darling is that wee treefrog...we have such big frogs out here, but I am not complaining because they keep the snails and slugs out of our vegetable patch...smiles...
Enjoy these last few glorious summer days, dear Sarah...hugs and so much love to you!
    Blessings on your Lord's Day!

  7. That is a lovely rose of Sharon. :-) In my experience, they are pretty sturdy bushes. Some varieties may be better than others, I don't know. There were two here when bought our place. One died (possibly from the drought years), but the white one is doing pretty well still. :-)

  8. My Grandma had Rose of Sharon that I loved as I was growing up,
and I am so pleased that there were two types in the garden here when we moved in!
I loved seeing the tiny tree frog! :-)
Much warmth and many blessings! Linnie

  9. The Rose of Sharon bushes are indeed pretty. I was going to plant some here at our house, but they are on the invasive species list here in the Tennessee area.
